Primous Fountain, emerging from the Ida B. Wells housing project on Chicago’s South Side, embodies resilience and profound artistry. Self-taught and deeply inspired, his exceptional talent was recognized early by the legendary impresario Quincy Jones, who, when Fountain was a teenager, became his patron and later commissioned his Symphony No. 2. Fountain’s work is a testament to the human spirit’s triumph over adversity. Miles Davis, after hearing Fountain’s orchestral work, sought to showcase it at Columbia Records. Conductor Gunther Schuller, a strong advocate of Fountain’s work, premiered many of his orchestral pieces. Alvin Ailey invited Fountain to compose for his ballet choreography. All these notable figures had the utmost faith in Fountain’s genius.
“We create great hip hop music, great pop music, great jazz, … but we also can create great symphonies.“

Based on private demand, it is possible to arrange smaller works up to a large Symphony. The intended uses are diverse, precisely thanks to the engaging (non)orchestral breadth. The works are suitable for orchestral performances, a quartet concert, a solo with a piano, as a film score, mindfulness, and even for self-motivation. Many of Fountain’s works have not been heard before, and they are waiting for the right opportunity.
